Dr. Sarah Merrill

A research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University, and she specializes in developmental psychology and social epigenetics. She earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Cornell University with Dr. Cindy Hazan, focusing on markers of attachment formation. She has also held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital Research Institute and the University of British Columbia, working under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Kobor on social epigenetics. Sarah has presented her findings at numerous conferences, contributing to the scientific community's understanding of the biological embedding of attachment, trauma, and their implications for health in children and adults. In addition to her academic endeavours, Sarah has engaged with the media to share her expertise and findings, appearing in various outlets, including BBC One's The Why Factor, CTV News, Global News Morning, and Scientific American's Science Quickly.

Alyson Campbell

Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island, is leading an emerging research program called Translating Research to Improve Pediatric Care Outcomes (TRIPCO). With a focus on implementing evidence-informed approaches in child health settings, TRIPCO aims to build research capacity and sustain evidence-informed practices in both inpatient and community settings. Alyson earned her PhD at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Scott, a renowned implementation science expert. Her doctoral work resulted in the development of a novel knowledge translation intervention for families managing pediatric concussions, now available on websites like Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK) and translating Evidence in Child Health to enhance Outcomes (ECHO). Currently, as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, Alyson leads nursing courses, provides supervision to Master of Nursing students, and is actively involved in research grants and faculty committees. She brings a wealth of experience in KT consultation, collaborating with organizations such as the Lung Association of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia and Alberta Health Services. Alyson's ongoing partnerships and collaborations include work with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, contributing to a systematic review exploring the application of an emergency triage tool in pediatric settings.

Dr. Tayler Eaton

Earned her Ph.D. from Cornell University in Cognitive Neuroscience, utilising neuroimaging techniques to understand the neural and physiological contributors to maladaptive emotional memory. She is deeply passionate about understanding the nature of trauma and traumatic memory processes to develop interventions to support people who have experienced severe trauma and helping to inform the wider mental health policy conversation. Tayler is currently a Senior Analyst on the Workforce Strategy and Analytics team within Mercer, applying bespoke statistical modelling to drive positive workforce change for clients, with a particular focus on content moderation and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion analytics.

Caroline C. Piotrowski, PhD MPH

She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences, a Scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, and Founding Director of the Violence and Injury Prevention Research Group at the University of Manitoba. Her research expertise is in sibling relationships, trauma and resilience, and violence and injury prevention

Margherita Cameranesi, PhD

Dr. Cameranesi received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rome La Sapienza (Italy), and her PhD in Applied Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba (Canada). Margherita’s research is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable, marginalized and underserved young people and their families by fostering their resilience to adversity. So far, her research has focused families who experienced intimate partner violence, Indigenous peoples and persons with disabilities. Margherita’s research expertise includes both quantitative and qualitative research approaches, as well as mixed methods research approaches.
